This past weekend, after getting the chance to assist Apertura with an AMAZING wedding at the Langham Hotel in Pasadena Saturday, we headed off to Palm Springs for the first time in a looong time!  Needless to say, we came away loving the small little town and it's Mid Century Mod styling throughout.

I decided to go on a visual hunt to capture the palm trees that liter the streets of small town as well as more random stuff that caught my eye...so with the beautiful blue skies...it happened to be one fun little project =)

Oh and, I had to throw in some pics of Haydn of course! =)  Happy Monday everyone!

We really couldn't believe it when we heard the news but long story short, remember Darcy and JJ's wedding?  Well their wedding got selected to be featured in the Spring/Summer Edition of Exquisite Wedding Magazine!  And the coolest part, although it's not up yet, is that because we were one of their favorite vendors, there's going to be a little section about Lauren and I on the web version of their magazine check it out here.  In case you were wondering, you can find this magazine at your local Barnes and Nobles, Borders or newsstand. Ever have something good/amazing happen to you and all you can say is "really?!".  Well, this is DEFINITELY one of those things!!  God seriously continues to amaze us and we couldn't be more thankful =) Here are some shots that we took of the actual magazine... and in case you go to check it out for yourself...it starts on page 66!! WOW, talk about EXCITING NEWS!! As I was checking on the results of the WedComp 2008 International Wedding  Images Competiion, my jaw dropped in astonishment when I saw that one of our images place 15th in the Ceremony category of the competition!!

Here's a quick description about the competition... "WedComp is a wedding photography competition open to any wedding photographer in the world with no restrictions as to style, approach or post production. The competition is judged by industry leading wedding photographers. The four categories are Getting Ready, Ceremony, Portrait and Reception" Isn't this AWESOME??!!!    To think that its been a year since we've put up blog.johnlauren.com and now we're placed Top 25 in an International Wedding Competition???!!!...we're seriously speechless!  At the same time, this milestone for us is also a testament to the awesome Brides and Grooms that believed in us and our work.  Thank you! =) Just in case you were wondering, the winning image was from Linda+Dennis' wedding that we shot in August 2008.  Thank you Linda and Dennis! Lastly, we have one more big announcement so keep an eye out for it...we're hoping to post it later this week! =)

I mentioned that it was for a speacial project that they were working on and well that project is now complete! =)  What was the project?! See for yourself!...

 

 The project was for a featured article on Red5studios in Event DV Magazine!  Not sure what to expect or what photos they would use or even how they would use them, we took Loyd, Hazel, his crazy gear and shot away.  And finally yesterday, I get word that the article is up and he's on the COVER!!!

 When you get a chance, read the article and be inspired.  Whether you're a photographer, a videographer, a musician...whatever it may be, it's always great to hear someone elses' success story.  Don't forget to check out their blog too and leave them some comment love!

So I was thinking...will this give us more recogonition? mmm, maybe.  Will more Brides be inclined to book us because of this?? mmm, probably not.  BUT are we super stoked that one of our images is on the cover of a magazine PERIOD?!  YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT!!! =)
