Once upon a time Lauren gave birth to Haydn.  A year or so later, Michelle, who's Lauren oldest sister gave birth to Olivia.  Haydn and Olivia are first cousins...the first ever first cousins in the family. =)

Not sure if we're ever going to find a couple with more in common with us as a whole (which means, Haydn included) than these hip cats...the Pratt Family.

When the Pratt's first called us to shoot their family portraits little did we know that a week later we'd be sitting with their family and friends at their daughter's one year-old birthday party.

You know, Lauren and I pray every year and once in a while in between, that we'd meet bestest bestest bestest couples ever and with the Pratt's, God definitely keep His prayer answering streak alive! =)

To the Pratt's...you guys are awesomeness times the square root of cool.  We're honored that you chose us to shoot your family portraits and we hope you love them as much as we do!

Happy Friday everyone...

The month of June, for the rest of my life, will always be a pretty cool month for me...well with December following a really really close second.  Its because of mainly two things, maaaybee three...Our Anniversary, Father's day and my birthday (a distant third).

Anyway, Saturday I got an early gift.  Driving home, the sky was amazing, light was perfect and we happened to stumble upon this amazing spot so what do we do?!  We race home, grab our equipment and shoot =) So random but that made it all the better.

So with that said, fast forward to Sunday.  While at service I got a chance to pray and I started looking back, thinking about my beautiful two girls in my life, and how He's allowed Lauren and I to share a love for photography together and I couldn't help but thank God for His goodness and cry tears of joy.  It was an awesome time of reflection.  I mean seriously...if you told me 5 years ago if I'd marry my best friend, start a photography business that we both love, have a beautiful baby girl and be able to use my wife as a model?! I would've probably thought you were crazy.  Well, lo and hold, that's exactly where I am today.

I love you Lauren (or Owen) and thank you for making June one of the best months of the entire year.

Sometimes..........ok a lot of times, Lauren and I will drive by a location and think "we really need to shoot there".  About two weeks ago, on the way to the home of our good friends Joel+Armenia+their new baby Luke, that exact thing happened and well about 15 mins later, I'm dragging them out of their home and we're shooting =)

It's strange in that photography to me is kind of like a drug.  I really really need to pick up my camera and create something awesome and once I do (even if the "awesome" part never happens) there's a sort of relief that lifts.  That's kind of what happened here =)  Big thanks to Joel+Armenia for letting me drag them out of the house, walk through some bush on the side of the road and let me quench my thirst to create with my camera even if it was only for a few minutes =)

Oh and I have to thank my lovely wife who agreed to take care of the kids while we were away! Ask Lauren about her experience...its actually pretty funny =)

One of the things that's always important in our world of photography is to constantly be shooting.  Like any craft, instrument or sport, the more you practice or do what you love, the better you get.  So as we strolled into the new year without hardly noticing (thanks to Haydn) one of the first things we wanted to do was put together a shoot to start getting our creative juices going again.  Come early Feb, thanks to our assistant Christian, we were able to schedule a weekend, find a couple more than willing to be our models, pin down a location and make some cool new friends all at the same time! =) Meet Stephanie and Saxon ...definitely one of the coolest couples we've been blessed to have crossed paths with!  We have to admit though, after working with these two, we're totally bummed we won't be shooting their wedding but regardless, we know they're going to look great in their photos =) To Stephanie and Saxon, thanks again for being our models...we had a blast with you guys!  So when's sushi?!! =) Here are two of our favorites from the day followed by a link to their Engagement Story.  Enjoy!! =) There's more pics from their shoot at the link below... ****************CLICK HERE FOR THEIR ENTIRE ENGAGEMENT STORY************** ----------------------- On a side note, we're still booking weddings for 2009/2010.  If you have any questions shoot us an email at Weddings@johnlauren.com
