A Few weeks back we told you that we were filmed for a video competition and that it was actually nominated as one of the 22 films to be premiered at a big event in LA.

From what we heard, over 500 people showed up to this sold out event so that meant that over 500 people were going to see first hand who John Lauren was and our work...ALL AT ONCE!!

The event was fun and got some great compliments regarding our work. Just wanted to say a quick thanks to Motion Sickness Productions for putting our video together and for the opportunity to show LA who we are.

A few weeks ago Motion Sickness Productions approached us about possibly doing a short film about us for a NewFilmakers LA competition called On Location: The Los Angeles Video Project "What is your LA". The video as described, would be no longer than 4 minutes and feature our company (both Lauren and I) as well as some of our work.

Our answer?! OF COURSE!!!! ;)

For the weeks to follow we scheduled some time for Motion Sickness to tag along with us for one of our shoots in LA and also a time for individual interviews.

Why not right?! Actually, it felt a bit weird being on the other side of the camera =)

So what's what big news?!!!!

Believe it or not, their short film on us, out of hundreds, maybe thousands, actually got picked as a finalist to be premiered at Sunset Gower Studios on May 21st!!!

That being said, we want to invite EVERYONE in the greater LA area to come out with us and see if Motion Sickness actually wins with their Love Captured short on us!!!!

Without these little people in my life, I would never get to be apart of this special day. We play such an important roll and no one can replace us! Totally hard work, but ssooo worth it! I love you Haydn and Zoë! This week, I was also reminded of how important it is to be not only a mother, but a wife... Is there a Wife Day? Just askin... hehe...

Wedding Coordinator: Mele Amore Events

Victoria and Brian made our "i wish we could be more like them" list last year. They surf, snowboard, jump over tall buildings and make can make ice cream out of sand. ;) We loved/love every minute with these two when we shot their engagement and the same can be said when we shot their wedding. It was amazing in every way, from the simple decor to the intimate beach ceremony setting. We seriously, seriously seriously, couldn't have been more blessed and honored to have captured it.

::WARNING THE FOLLOWING IS A SMALL RANT::

Let me be the first to say that it's hard, i mean really hard to come to a place where you feel like your own work is worth showcasing and I think that's the reason why it took so long. As a photographer, at least for me, I'm always trying to pursue some sort of perfection in my work but oddly enough, you can't. You're always going to adjust your technique, learn and really exceed the boundaries of creativity...that's what makes this work of photography so amazing. When you look through that viewfinder, it's never the same! But, I believe eventually, even though you should continue to strive to be better than the last time, you do come to a place where you realize that's where you want to be and as you look back on your work, you can actually see it.

Anyway, with that said, I just want to give a quick shout out to our amazing Brides and Grooms and also for our lovely friend (you know who you are!) who so graciously pull our site together =) Also to intothedarkroom for all the support!

(Details)
Side Story...
With about a week or so to go before Erin+Calvin's big day, she asked if it would be possible to put together an Engagement Album where her guests can sign and leave messages. Long story short, after a few calls, in what should have taken at LEAST 3 weeks, we were happy to deliver the custom album seen below in a just few days (custom designed and all!) ;)

Erin+Calvin's wedding was FULL of awesome little details so w/o further ado, here are a few of them followed by a link to the Detail Story board.

Oh and PS - Erin's bouquet was one of the nicest we've ever seen...couple that with her Christian Louboutin shoes and i'd say we have ourselves a winner =)
